Artists Statement

'Through observation and imagination I invent a visual response to the world around me, of things seen and unseen, real and imagined.  I embrace the witty, the surreal and the strangely bizarre.

Through line drawing, textural mark making and layering of colour, I create personifications and anthropomorphic characters in atmospheric landscapes.

Fantastical beings and hybrids, elephants, trees, islands, buildings and machinery are often recurring images and motifs in my work. Although these animate and inanimate creatures may appear charming and whimsical they often contain subtle dark undertones.

My objective is to construct worlds that intrigue, puzzle and delight in equal measure.'
